Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) is cheaper fertility treatment IVF
This may be used as a cheaper first-line treatment before trying more expensive techniques like IVF. It is most effective in younger women and alongside fertility medications, which stimulate eggs to be produced and released by the prospective mother’s ovaries.
The technique involves placing sperm into the uterus when the egg is released. This helps to maximise the number of good quality sperm available to fertilise the egg. The procedure takes only a few minutes, and you are able to carry on your day as normal afterward.
As it is the least invasive intervention, because it relies on the sperm to make their own way to the egg, it is essential to confirm your tubes are open and healthy before having this treatment. Learn more about tubal flushing tests here.
