When to Seek Advice?
We encourage you to seek advice whenever you want. An appointment can provide reassurance, improve your understanding of reproductive health, and clarify fertility options available to you.
Please feel free to call us or book an appointment with Mrs. Gordon if:
- • You think you may be affected by infertility (see below)
- • You want to learn more about your fertility
- • You have any concerns
Infertility
Infertility is clinically defined as an inability to conceive naturally after 12 months of regular, unprotected intercourse with the same partner.
This is shortened to 6 months when the prospective mother is over 35, has irregular menstrual cycles, or a gynaecological issue. It is also important both men and women are checked because problems with sperm cause approximately 4 out of 10 cases of infertility.

Book an Appointment
During this hour-long consultation, Mrs. Gordon will take a thorough history to identify what factors may be contributing to your difficulty conceiving. She will also request various Fertility Tests to gather more information.
If you are attending as a couple, it is best to book your initial appointment for a time when you and your partner are free because Mrs. Gordon will need to learn about both of you.
It only takes a moment to complete our online booking form to arrange your initial appointment with Mrs. Gordon. Alternatively, call us at the BFC where we can book thee consultation and answer any further questions.

Fertility Tests
These tests will help Mrs. Gordon to determine if there is a reason for the difficulty conceiving so she can modify your treatment plan and advise accordingly. Please note, some results may take up to a month to return.
Prospective mothers will need to have specific blood tests performed (including egg reserve count) as well as a pelvic scan.
Prospective fathers will need to have a semen analysis performed.
If you want to learn more about the exact tests required, please call us and we would be more than happy to share more information.

Your Personalised Treatment Plan
During this 45-minute appointment, your results will be explained and any questions you have answered. Mrs. Gordon will then explain why she thinks you have had difficulty conceiving, and will discuss the best treatment options available for your personal circumstances. She will cover chances of success with each option, the relevant costs and a provisional timeline.
Together, you will be able to formulate a personalised treatment plan that is tailored to your specific needs.

Treatments
Not everyone who has difficulty conceiving requires IVF (In-Vitro Fertilisation) or other types of advanced treatments. There are often other, less invasive steps that can maximise your natural fertility, save you money and help you conceive.
It is at this stage we get a clearer idea of whether you will need lifestyle advice, general fertility interventions, or advanced treatments to conceive.
