General fertility treatments are cheaper and less invasive than IVF, ICSI and IUI, but clinics don’t always offer these options to their patients. Bristol Fertility Clinic believes in offering general fertility advice and treatment where there is reason to believe that they will help achieve conception before moving onto more advanced treatments. They are not always clinically appropriate, in which case more advanced options may be better suited to your circumstances, but for some patients these are all that is needed to help them conceive naturally.
Some specific medical problems, such as a prospective mother being unable to release an egg, will benefit from fertility medications. The clinical team can prescribe oral tablets that achieve ovulation, which may be all you need to achieve a pregnancy, or they may prescribe daily injections.
At Bristol Fertility Clinic, you can be certain that the most evidence-based medication will be used to optimise your general fertility. The clinical team is very careful to pay attention to recent and upcoming research, and modify treatments accordingly.
HyCoSy involves performing an ultrasound scan whilst flushing the fallopian tubes with a safe dye. This procedure is comparable to the hysterosalpingogram (HSG), which uses x-rays instead. Patients often remark that a HyCoSy is less painful than a HSG.
Tubal flushing can serve both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. The test checks whether the prospective mother’s tubes are open and it has also been shown to increase chances of natural conception in the following few months. Many of our patients have become pregnant after a HyCoSy has been conducted, where a HyCoSy is a clinically indicated treatment option.
